Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term coach Cervara.
Presently training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
This represents his first championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since spring of the previous year.
Victory also means he has won twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, comprising in that event previously this season.
His defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had led some to question if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.
However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an better serving game.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.
The pair swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour title, took control to push for a decider.
He rescued four initial break points in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with his opponent incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
